2001 Mazda Protege

Added power is provided by the optional 2.0-liter engine. Enhanced chassis and suspension pave way to comfortable rides and handling. Revised interiors give relaxing atmosphere suitable for long travels. LX, DX and ES are the three available trim levels.

LX and DX are powered by a 1.6-liter four cylinder that can boost up to 103 horsepower. Standard is a five- speed manual transmission with optional four-speed automatic. ES comes with a 2.0-liter engine with 130 horsepower. It is equipped with white-colored gauges, rear spoiler, fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels and four-wheel disc brakes.

Modified hood, front fenders, front fascia, headlamps, grille and mesh inserts provide fresher look. The renewed design is patterned after hippy and hot European cars. Larger performance parts provide better handling and acceleration. The renewed steering system provides improved fuel efficiency.
