2000 Mazda Protege

Refinements and improvements were done for 2000 Mazda Protege. Optional package include front seat side-impact air bags and a stability-control system with anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution. Interior features come in new color schemes including illuminated power windows and door locks, chrome colored interior switches and harmonized shifter and parking brake lever colors.

Three trim levels come in full throttle, the LX, DX and ES. LX and DX are powered by a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine rated at 105 horsepower with standard five speed manual transmission. Also optional is a four speed automatic transmission. ES is equipped with bigger front discs and a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder, 122 horsepower engine.

Interiors and cargo space can compete with other car models. Rear seat passengers can comfortably choose proper body positions although the knob of the driver's seat is hard to adjust. Controls and switches are easy to reach and operate specially the car's entertainment system. Passengers can then relax and listen to music without any hazards and inconvenience.
