1997 Mazda Protege
Relocated stereo units and reshaped headlights, front fenders and front bumpers
are the notable changes for the four-door1997 Mazda Protege. The 1.5-liter 4-cylinder
engine with 92 horsepower is the power source of the base DX and midlevel LX.
The 8-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 122 horsepower is used by the ES model.
Cargo space is suitable for four grown passengers. Rear doors however are too
narrow causing discomfort in entry and exit. Steering and handling are responsive
which provide ease in driving specially in remote areas.

Users will surely experience the added convenience of standard equipments including
child safety locks, side-impact door beams, rear defroster and halogen headlights.
Optional are floor mats and automatic transmission. ES models come with velour
sport bucket seats, four-wheel disc brakes and environment-friendly air conditioning
system. LX models come anew with power mirrors, windows and door locks as well
as cruise control and remote trunk release.
